Planning a trip to Bali over the summer? Maybe you should re-consider…

Australians are devastated by just the thought that Bali, our favourite party island, would even consider banning booze. However overnight the Indonesian House of Representatives were presented with a bill by the United Development Party and the Prosperous Justice Party which does just that. The bill looks at banning the production, consumption or distribution of any beverages which contain more than one percent alcohol, nationwide in a bid to protect citizens from the negative impacts of alcoholic beverages.

Hariyadi Sukamdani head of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association acknowledges that this may be an issue stating that, “it will be very inconvenient for them (tourists) if they can’t find alcohol”, to the Jakarta Post.

INCONVENIENT! We come to Bali to get our fair share of overdue massages, eat some shrimp, relax on the beach, drink some mimosas, take some Insta pics, keyword there being MIMOSA.

Bali’s economy heavily relies on and is benefitted by the tourism and hospitality industries, so the likelihood of this bill passing is unlikely however we are still extremely shocked at this news.
